Brr! Winter made an unwelcome stop here. The wind chills were in the teens this morning (and have barely recovered). I see Carlos Beltran got an equally cold reception this morning, the third manager to bite the dust in the cheating scandal rocking baseball. But let’s think warm thoughts, including love! Here’s another country song with “love” in the title. I Loved You Yesterday - Lyle Lovett Butt ugly, but a very sweet man. So there. This certainly wasn’t planned, but the country and rock love artists today have toured together! And why not? They’re both excellent songwriters with quirky senses of humor, as well as genre-hoppers. I saw Lyle Lovett on the Pontiac tour (with Leo Kottke opening....how’s that for a show??). The audience didn’t know how to take him, which is sad. Pontiac is a fairly good representation of what you’ll get from Lovett: absolute country music (as this song shows), and some big-band jazz/swing (“She’s Hot to Go,” the song that closes out the album). You need to be ready for both (as well as some almost-rock, such as “You Can’t Resist It” from his first album). Lovett probably is very well known for his less-than-stellar looks, which is also sad. There’s an incredible amount of talent here. I Loved You Yesterday Written by Lyle Lovett Recorded by Lyle Lovett From Pontiac, 1987 Can you tell me, or do you know:

Well, I know who Lyle Lovett is. Wasn't he married to Julia Roberts?

His looks are considered less than stellar because he is a performer. In the real world, he would just be average Joe.

I could swear I saw him in an episode of King of the Hill once. If I remember, he stole a song from Peggy.
