As I mentioned in the country side of this dual countdown to Valentines Day filled with songs that have “love” in the title, today’s rock artist and country artist have done tours together. Double your pleasure and fun with two greats! For today’s rock act, it’s another longtime favorite of mine showing up yet again.
Don’t Know Much About Love - John Hiatt
So apparently this song was recorded but never put on an album during Hiatt’s Capitol era. When he left for New West Records Capitol (as all his other labels had done) put out a “greatest hits” album that included this previously-unreleased tune.
Too bad it hadn’t been released and run with. It may have given Hiatt a hit. It’s fun and upbeat, with a little R&B feel to it.
However, with all those hits he’s written for others, I’m pretty sure he’s not crying about not having a “hit” of his own. Hiatt’s in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and I think he’s very comfortable with his “lot in life.”

A lot of my favorites have “different” voices, like Hiatt, Warren Zevon, and John Prine.

Funny how that always seems to happen when an artist leaves a label.
