"She-Devil" is a black comedy released in 1989. Meryl Streep received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The movie received a lukewarm reception with a 44% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes. CAST Meryl Streep - Mary Fisher Roseanne Barr - Ruth Patchett Ed Begley, Jr. - Bob Patchett Linda Hunt - Hooper Sylvia Miles - Mrs. Fisher Elisabeth Peters - Nicolette Patchett Bryan Larkin - Andy Patchett A. Martinez - Garcia Maria Pitillo - Olivia Honey Mary Louise Wilson - Mrs. Trumper Susan Willis - Ute Jack Gilpin - Larry Robin Leach - Himself Nitchie Barrett - Bob's Secretary June Gable - Realtor Lori Tan Chinn - Vesta Rose Woman Sally Jessy Raphael - Herself Ruth Patchett lives with her husband, Bob, who is an accountant, and her children Nicolette and Andy. Ruth does her best to please her husband; but she is clumsy and unsophisticated. Although Ruth is a caring and competent housekeeper, she is overweight and unattractive. Bob meets romance novelist Mary Fisher at a party when Ruth spills her wine on her. Bob offers to drive Mary home and ends up spending the night. Bob's affair continues; but he assures Ruth that his contact with Fisher is strictly business related. They are arguing one evening; and Bob reminds her that his parents are coming over for dinner. The meal does not go well due to Ruth's clumsiness; but she has made Bob's favorite, mushroom soup; and she hopes to make amends. When the lid is taken off the bowl, Andy's missing gerbil is found...dead. A heated argument ensues, Bob calls Ruth incompetent and a lousy cook and tells her he married her just because she was pregnant. Bob's parents leave in a huff and Bob has decided to leave Ruth. As he is packing, Bob outlines what he thinks his assets are: his home, his family, his career and his freedom. Ruth later writes these down and plans on how to rid Bob of all four. I'm not a big Meryl Streep fan, especially if she's in a drama; however, I've thoroughly enjoyed her in any comedy role that she's been in. Roseanne plays the frumpy, clumsy housewife to a "T"; and I always enjoy Ed Begley, Jr. This isn't the best movie I've ever seen; but it's not the worst. I still have managed to watch it several times. In all fairness, I give it a lukewarm thumbs up. This movie is rated PG-13. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I do not remember this one. I am not a big Streep fan any more. She was good in the Devil Wears Prada.

She's good in this one too. I DO NOT like her in a drama with her accents and all that. I think she's overrated.
