Tracy Chapman was born March 30, 1964 and is an American singer/songwriter. "New Beginning" became a multi-platinum hit and won her a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song "Give Me One Reason" (see below). Another one of her big hits is "Fast Car". She sings folk, blues rock, pop and soul.

Now, how on earth did you ever hear of Tracy Chapman?? 
“For My Lover” was in consideration for my “love songs” countdown, but it didn’t make the final cut.

Loved "Fast Car" and then hear "Give Me One Reason" and bought the CD. I know, she's not your mainstream artist. I also like Jane Child and Paula Cole....
