FINALLY!!! A song that Linda’s heard of!!! (She kids me about all this obscure music I listen to....it’s all in fun.) And yeah, I know that there might have to be an asterisk by “rock” for today’s song with “love” in the title. This is a little more country-rock. Either way, it’s a great tune, and here it is. Heard It in a Love Song - Marshall Tucker Band Or, “You Never Even Call Me By My Name, Part II.” Of course, this wasn’t sung with tongue so firmly in cheek that you knew they were joking, but the same sentiment is there. Here we have all those love song cliches crammed into one song, which explains the contradictions in the song (“If I ever settle down you’d be my kind, and it’s a good time for me to head on down the line”). Yes, you’ve probably heard all these lines in various love songs, just not in the same song until the Marshall Tucker Band scored their biggest hit in 1977. Heard It in a Love Song Written by Toy Caldwell Recorded by the Marshall Tucker Band From Carolina Dreams, 1977 I guess I always will:

I hate to disappoint you; but I'm not familiar with the tune or the Marshall Tucker Band. :-(

I have no recollection of this tune. I was probably already onto alternative radio then.
