Valentines Day inches closer, and to celebrate I’m starting the new year with songs from country and rock that have “love” in the title. Some of these songs have been real heartbreakers, but today’s song is a real love song.
Love Can’t Ever Get Better Than This - Ricky Skaggs & Sharon White
Hey, they sound like they mean it! They do. Ricky Skaggs, Country and Bluegrass Hall of Famer, and Sharon White have been married for 40 years. Both accomplished performers (Sharon is part of the Whites, a family group with daddy Buck White leading and sisters Sharon, Cheryl, and Rosie doing most of the singing), they decided to put together a love song for one of Skaggs’ albums.
It was a top ten hit in country. While Skaggs and White didn’t release many songs together as a duet in their country career, they’ve been on each other’s albums throughout the decades. In fact, Ricky’s record label is called Skaggs Family.
Yep, they meant it when they sang it.

And why not? I saw Ricky and X the same year!
(Definitely NOT the same concert, though.)

I don't remember this one, and this was back when I was pulling the occasional shift on the Country station. We played quite a bit of Ricky Skaggs, but this one isn't ringing a bell.
