So, I'm late. It's like this: I had a panic attack overnight and didn't get back to sleep until about 7:30 AM. Then I had to run down to Shepherdsville to take the photo/video project flash drives to my cousin. Plus, it's gorgeous outside, and when it's 70 degrees on February 3 you go outside and take advantage of it! But music is important, and here's the next song from the world of country music with "love" in the title.
The Ways to Love a Man - Tammy Wynette
Well, at least everyone's heard of her.
Tammy Wynette (nee Virginia Wynette Pugh) was -- still is, truth be told -- one of THE "biggies" when it comes to female country singers. There are very few legendary women in country, but they're so well-known that they've extended their name recognition outside of country music. You know who Dolly is, and Loretta, and Patsy.
Wynette had an interesting delivery. She'd sing in a soft, almost Bill Anderson-like "whisper," then BELT OUT A LINE OR TWO before going back to the soft touch. It was unique. She was unique.
Here's one of her classic hits.

One way to love a man is to stand by your man.
The Mount Rushmore of female country: Kitty, Patsy, Loretta, Tammy and Dolly.

See? This is easy. I hardly expect you to know all of her singles, though, not being raised on (nor liking) country music. Knowing who she was is good enough an advancement for me.

Tammy Wynette's one of my all time favorites. Millions have tried to sing her and Patsy Cline's songs, but no one has come close to either one.
