Preparing To Go Get Your REAL ID ...

Skip and I went to our appointments this morning to come away not accomplishing what we meant to do.
I prepared or so, I thought for all to go smoothly. But, no ... it didn't. The DMV officer was very nice ... she took the time to explain what I needed to do to come to our next appointment. Skip and I have new appointments scheduled March 03rd. I plan to be ... more than prepared.
I had read online that I needed to have our birth certificates, 2 pieces of mail with our current address ... anyway, what I found out this morning was ... I didn't have all I needed.
I need to take my marriage certificate to 'show how I went from my maiden name to Bates' ... I never saw that online.
We need to take our social security cards ... and certified birth certificates and mail with our current address. I had Skip's certified birth certificate ... I had mine but ... many years ago it began coming apart ... I laminated it! I shouldn't have ever laminated it ... that caused it not to be accepted this morning.
I have to go to the county I was born in ... go to the Register of Deeds and request my birth certificate. I will do that tomorrow. I have a big envelope to carry to the new appointments for both Skip and I.
I mean to do it right the next time. Not accomplishing what we set out to do this morning just didn't feel good at all. I found out I didn't prepare ahead as well as I thought I had.

I had to reschedule our appts until March. I went to the county I was born in to get a certified copy of my birth certificate. So ... I think I have all the documents we need. It's not just a driver's license ... I have that ... it's to get the REAL ID that is required. You can look it up online.

@GrannyGee oh, ok. I did have to look it up and I'm still not sure what it is but that's ok.

@simone10 I know ... there's so much information there for reasons as to why one has to have all the Real ID.
