On January 26th, a terrible helicopter crash happened in Calabassas, California. All victims were said to have died from blunt force trauma. According to CNN, a report on the actual crash may not be available for at least a year.
It's victims were Kobe Bryant (41), Gianna Bryant (13), Payton Chester (13), Sarah Chester (45), Alyssa Altobelli (14), Kerri Altobelli (46), John Altobelli (56), Christina Mauser (38), and helicopter pilot Ara Zobayan (50).
In the beginning, when this was first reported, many fans and followers had to find a way to deal with the fact that Kobe and all four of his daughter's may have been on that helicopter. Reporters never got the facts straight before broadcasting.
No, this news was not better to swallow, however it was better than what it could have been. The reporter who originally reported that, has been suspended. I'm not sure what has happened with him as of now though.
Since that day, people have been honoring Kobe in different ways as well as moments of silence. The Super Bowl had a moment of silence while a picture of all nine victims were on the jumbo screen.
It was nice to see that not only was Kobe and his daughter Gianna remembered, but the other victims as well. They deserve mention as much as he did. I think he would want that as he wasn't the type of man to hog the attention. At least not to me.
May they all rest in peace.
