My father passed away 16 years ago because of sickness. He had a stroke that left him bed-ridden for 6 years. It was a long and agonizing battle for him and for all of us as well who just became witnesses of his suffering. It was his his 16th death anniversary last February 4 but I was not able to visit his grave because I had work. My other siblings and I planned to go there this weekend to bring flower, light a candle and offer a prayer. He was a strict but loving father to all of us. He was soldier, a Vietnam-War veteran. He was our hero. I call him My Optimus Prime. Why? His real name is Primo and when he was alive he wanted to be called Prime which always brought smiles on our faces. But indeed, he will always and forever be my Optimus Prime for every sense of the word. I miss him!

I am scared of stroke because it is getting prevalent if not common. Just today, the mother of my wife's colleague was brought to the hospital due to a stroke. My wife's mother had a stroke in 2011 and until now she is in a vegetable state.

That is so sad to hear. I also experienced a mild stroke when I had my aneurysm five years ago.

@Alexandoy I was one of those very few lucky ones. It was a long story. Actually this is my second life. Sorry to hear about your eldest brother.

@cherigucchi That’s so sweet. I was a daddy’s girl, too, mostly because I had two brothers.

It was very unfortunate what happened to your father, it is good to remember him as he likes to be called.

We have already accepted it and we know that he is now in a happier place.
