I have 2 colleagues who are in conflict with money. One has a loan while the other one is a co-maker. The co-maker's payment was suddenly stopped last December that caused the first not withdraw from her savings. They made an agreement between them that turned out bad.
I did know anything about it until one of them told me everything. I did not want to meddle but still I listened. I was surprised this morning that I found a letter on my desk plus I was copy-furnished of her letter to our immediate boss. She wanted me to help her settle it.
In short, they talked in front of our immediate boss and I did listen and tell them to put the agreement on paper to settle everything finally. I know that this was going to be the end of good friendship between them.
How I just wished that I was not a witness to a situation like this but there was nothing I could do.
Had you experienced the same thing?

Not experienced it personally. But definitely have witnessed or heard of situations where money has spoiled relationships.

Some think that being a co-maker is no big deal. When the borrower couldn't pay the installment to the loan, the co-maker will be the one who is responsible.

That is true. Good thing that I did not have any troubles with that.

I have seen it many such conflicts and strongly believe that money and relationships can never survive together

I've always heard not to loan to friends or co-workers, because so many problems can arise. I hope they get on with their friendship.

I think we should give more importance to our relationship

We have an old saying here. Never a beggar or borrower be. LIfe can be a struggle at times but many things are bought because you want them rather than if you need them. Lending money to family and friends can turn quite ugly especially when the other person does not pay it back.
