SHORTS!!! Take that, you sleet and snow in Kentucky!!! Yes, it’s Florida-like in Florida, which means I’m ready to put on those shorts I packed. But first....another song with “love” in the title from the world of country music. We inch closer to Valentines Day with just four songs to go, including this one. #4: A Thing Called Love - Jerry Reed And if you listen to this the first thing you’re going to say is, “Hey, that doesn’t sound like Jerry Reed!” I know. There’s no “son!” or “east bound and down” in this. What’s up with that? So now you’re getting your country music lesson for the day: Jerry Reed really could sing. It’s just that the voice he used in things like “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot” made more money. And you hopefully always knew Reed could write songs: he wrote Porter Wagoner’s final #1 hit (“Misery Loves Company”); and, this song later became a big hit for Johnny Cash. There was a lot more to Jerry Reed than the “novelty” type songs.
