And you thought dogs weren't caring and compassionate.

Figo is a good boy. In 2015, he and his human were crossing the street in Brewster, New York when an oncoming bus failed to stop. Figo broke free from his owner, Audrey, and flung himself at the bus. The bus stopped but not before injuring poor Figo, who sustained a broken leg. His human, Audrey, fell and fractured her elbow, ankle and three ribs.Figo would not leave her side until he saw that she was getting medical attention. The two were separated for four months while they each recovered from their injuries. Figo was awarded The Dog Of The Year award, an award given by The American Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Audrey is legally blind and requires Figo to help her with every day tasks. This happened in 2015

@CarolDM You know I have no cats, but my friends cats have been good therapy for me too. I was at my friends house feeling really sad one day and one of her cats saw that and would not leave my side all day.

I don't think a human would just instinctively do the same thing.

@amitkokiladitya I agree with you, but I also think that cats can be very loyal and faithful too. They are just quieter about it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, he does. I really do not think that jumping in front of that bus was part of his training, it was just instinct.

I'm happy to hear that too, and that the dog was given an award for his bravery.

that is a nice story. I think many dogs would do that to their humans

I think you are right. This one was trained to help, but I do not know that the dogs training involved running in front of an oncoming bus.

@rakski Yes, they really are loyal to the humans they deem as "theirs". My best friends dog will put his paw under her door when he thinks she's taking too long to get up and get started on her day. he starts whining too, like "Hey! Get Up!"

@ScribbledAdNauseum oh yes, it is not a part of their training but it is their loyalty to their humans

Yes they are! One of my friends dogs will bark, causing his siblings to get up and bark at the back door. While they are doing that, he goes and grabs the toy he wanted.

If any animal on the planet is sincere, understandable, caring, kind, it is a dog.

That kind of stuff happens to me sometimes too. It's annoying, and I usually just give up.
