Craving Satisfied!

Mi Goreng
February 25, 2020 11:41am CST
"When the palate salivates, the mouth will ate!" Lol that's my tagline earlier when i had cravings for my special kind of noodle dish. This fried noodles is called Mi Goreng. Though it's not originally from the Philippines, it's one of the most known imported food here and it's widely popular also to overseas Filipino workers as a snack. Mi Goreng is a spicy fried noodle dish that originated in Indonesia. It's is common also in Malaysia, Brunei, as well as Singapore and other Asian neighboring country. The thing that i crave on this food is that it is different from your typical Ramen type of noodles because you only boil the noodles and drain it. Unlike the typical Ramen noodle that you just dunk all the noodles and ingredients and boil them in a bowl. This one, you need to drain the boiling water and mix all the dried/powder ingredients as well as the sauce after the noodles is cooked making it as "fried" than the typical noodle soup dish. Have you satisfy your cravings lately? Would love to read all your thoughts thanks!

I think I have tried this noodle, an instant noodle sold here in Asian supermarket. Doesn't taste good for me but if no other to compete this food, it's alright.

@StyleWithSense I prefer the typical Lucky Me Pancit Canton than that one in the photo.

@thelme55 Lucky Me is a classic for the Filipino palate. I do eat Lucky Me Pancit Canton but i prefer this one because it's less greasy for my liking. Thanks for your response!

Yeah it's also sold at local asian groceries as it's on of the most export goods in Indonesia. It may not be everyone's cup of tea though as it's a little bit spicy unlike your typical Lucky Me Pancit Canton. Thanks for your response!

Yes, I had tried this one but I'm most with cup noodles. My favorite flavors are la paz batchoy and seafoods. Since, I'm not into hot and spicy, I'd never dared the Samyang challenge. I try slow consumption of instant noodles for now since I am monitoring my creatinine level which rose to a bit beyond normal. Foods like that are known to have high sodium content so better off for the meantime.

I love Cup Noodles while on travel by ship! as it's a good way to pass the long hours of travel. Bulalo flavor is my favorite for cup noodles. But for dry noodles, I'll definitely go and crave for my Mi Goring rather than the usual Lucky Me Pancit Canton. And yes, this isn't good to consume on the daily as it's high in sodium but to get a quick crave satisfaction, it won't hurt to eat once in awhile. Thanks for your response!
