How often do you clean your toilet?

I’m not the most compulsive housekeeper this side of the Earth. But, whenever our toilets start to accumulate grime and get smelly, I instantly turn into a mad cleaner. We have two toilets in this house. I have one to myself, not because I want to, but because this toilet is old and must be used and cleaned regularly so hideous bugs don’t live in it. I clean my toilet at least twice a week and I do the same with the other toilet that’s being used by my husband and kids.
I’m not so much a germ-phobe as to use the strongest cleaning agents with chemical ingredients I could hardly pronounce. I use a mild liquid detergent and a scouring powder with biodegradable ingredients to scrub clean our toilet rooms. Sometimes I would combine vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice. My favorite part is scrubbing the insides of the toilet bowl. I know that many people tend to avoid this as it seems gross. But I enjoy a toilet bowl that is clean and smells of mild disinfectant.
Do you clean your own toilet or do you have someone do it for you?

@almostoveryou I clean the bathroom very often even is most of the time I´m the only one that uses it. I clean it with chlorine but I use Lysol once a day besides it.

I think I haven't tried Lysol for our toilets, but I do use it to spray on garbage bags and in the bedroom if someone's been sick.

We have three bathrooms with three toilets. It depends on the bathroom the main floor bathroom gets cleaned more often then the other two. Usually when it starts to smell of it the water looks gross or has stains starting to build up.

I imagine it would be challenging to clean three bathrooms regularly.

@almostoveryou that is why I don’t do all of them at the same time. I cleaned one yesterday and found baby powder all up in one of the cabinets from my lovely 5 year old.

That's nice. I'll have to teach my girls to help me clean.

That's what I do too. I wish I could do it every day but I don't want to be exposed to too many chemicals on a given day.

@almostoveryou Yes those are pretty high toxic. That’s why I also use it once or twice a week. These chemicals are very dangerous can’t expose ourselves to it daily.

My toilet is cleaned and disinfected with bleach at least once a day; sometimes more depending on how much traffic I get.

are the mild detergent and biodegradable ingredients as effective?

I believe so. People have been using vinegar and lemon juice for centuries. If I need to bleach, I use oxybleach.
