Fish Meal.

I felt hungry after attending to the tasks of the day yesterday, so I hastened to an old favorite - French Baker.
Ordinarily, my default order was a chicken ala king. But it was a Friday, the first Friday of the Lenten season, a fasting day. I was going to eat my only full meal of the day. And observe abstinence from meat. So, I asked the food server what fish meal choices may I choose from. There's the milk fish and the cream dory. Oh, cream dory is not much to my liking but I'd go for that. Milk fish is always easy for me to prepare.
Then I muttered I would have loved to have my usual order but it's abstinence Friday. The food server asked, 'Why is that?' I simply answered that we are supposed to pitch in the suffering of our Lord. She said she didn't know that. Nobody ever told her about that.
I apologized for the neglect that my generation has done to the next, that we have not taught them the important things like mortification.
The food server was amused and wanted to listen for more. But I urged her to go about her duty, for there were other ladies waiting. She thanked me for telling her about sacrifices.
The fish meal came with hot soup. Satisfying.

Yup, the fasting is for the young and able. Those with age and with medical condition are exempted from fasting.

It looks appetizing. I frequently buy bread from French Baker, when we were still living in the Philippines. I haven't tried their meals apart from the pasta I ordered before. Maybe it wasn't so delicious that's why I don't remember what kind of pasta it was haha.
That one looks appetizing though. It seems like it has zucchini, celery, and carrots

Yup, French Baker did serve carbonarra. I once ordered that, long ago, and it wasn't as delicious as my carbonarra. I don't know really if they have taken out of the menu. But there are more succulent meals now.
So, where have you migrated?

Yes, the fish meal was delicious, thank you.
Abstaining from meat is not challenging at all. I don't eat pork and rarely eat beef.
