I'm Clueless About WiFi

We may be traveling later this year; and I want to bring my computer with me. I sort of understand what happens if I go to a motel and it has WiFi. They give me a password; and I can get an internet connection. But where do I put that password? What do I have to call up to get that screen? OK. Now what about away from a motel? Suppose I want to use my laptop in the car? Do I purchase a hot spot? Then what? I'm totally in the dark as far as that's concerned. Can someone help please? Someone from Best Buy said something about having to pay a monthly fee? I'm confused. Thank you. Photo Credit: Pixabay

If you have a smart phone you may be able to use it as a hotspot. Just would need to talk to your phone company. A personal hotspot is a lot safer than public wifi.

Here is an article I found a bout the hotspots and wifi. Remember, just because you can connect doesn't make it safe. Some hotels will also you to use their password, this seems to be more secure.

I´m very dumb as technology goes. So I go with my laptop to the lobby and ask for help.
