Hello there, everyone. Today's A to Z of Me Challenge is N is for New Kids On The Block fan, also known as a New Kids On The Block "Blockhead" lol. The band is also known as NKOTB. Clearly, this is going to be a lengthy post.
I was introduced to NKOTB by my older sister back in 1989, when I was just four-years-old. They were a huge part of my childhood, as I had the shirts, slippers, hats, figures, doll (of at least Jordan Knight), Fashion Plates, coloring books, comic books, etc. I used to watch the cartoon, and MY first CD (that my parents bought just for ME) was NKOTB. Actually, it was two CDs, Step By Step and No More Games Remix, and I still have those albums today.
NKOTB broke up when I was nine-years-old, which sucked of course, but it was announced in advance. I eventually got into other things, such as professional wrestling. I still listened to my NKOTB CDs, as well as some of the guys' solo music, so it's not like I completely forgot about them. It was all just... pushed to the side, I hate to admit.
NKOTB reunited back in 2008, but I was so preoccupied with wrestling, I didn't make a big deal or go see their shows. I WANTED to go see them, but at the time, I preferred to spend my money on WWE shows. Today, I regret missing the group and solo shows, especially the solo shows.... as Jordan Knight came to Maryland on his own and with Nick Carter (of Backstreet Boys).
My best friend sent me an online advertisement for the Mixtape Festival in Hershey (in 2016), and NKOTB were part of the lineup. We were both interested and had the money, so I was like "Yeah, it's time." It was time to finally see NKOTB. They were the last to play and they were AMAZING. When I walked out of the Hershey Park Stadium, the spark was re-lit and I was back into them full force, and I've been back into them that night.
Since then, I've been to two other shows, and I plan to attend their next tour, if possible. And well, the rest is history, as some of you may know from my past NKOTB-related posts.
Yeah, this was a longer post, but when I'm talking about my favorite group since I was a child, I have a lot to say lol. I'm gonna wrap this up now. Take care, everyone. :)
