Fibromyalgia in the Tropics

I have always said that the salty air and sunshine are good for me. I feel less pain (I did say no pain but I can't say that now), and all other symptoms are diminished if not completely gone. Didn't sneeze once while away. No eye issues. No real bothersome pain. And I slept very well. I didn't wake up stuffed up or overly tired or in pain. One night I slept on my right side and woke up during the night with that nagging pain in my right leg and shoulder. I put my essential oils on and went back to sleep. I took fewer pain killers while away. I was purposely cutting back on that codeine because despite eating lots of fruits and vegetables, I was constipated.
We arrived home last night from Cancun, Mexico. It was a little chilly when we arrived and mostly clouds for the first day. But after that we were able to spend our days on the beach.
We had a grand time. We did one excursion which included a muddy ATV ride (I'd never done that before), zip-lining on several different lines including the Tarzanian which is a roller coaster type zip line. I screamed the whole way. We also did a bungee swing and did a zip and dip where we swam in fresh water entering via a zip line. We also crossed a series of suspension rope bridges. At the end we were served a snack of chicken and rice with tortilla chips and hummus. This was only a half day excursion but was full of activities. Unfortunately I never figured into my mind that I would have to climb a lot of stairs to get to those zip lines. I think the first trek was 6 flights. It was a little hard on these aging fibromyalgia ridden legs.
So, I did feel some pain the day after this... but nothing like the pain I am experiencing now, back at home. The pain has been so bad since I returned home that I have been near tears. I can't stand it here. I want to feel that healthy every day, not just one week. I am miserable right now. It kind of makes me question whether it's worth it. Yes, take me away again... NOW! This is my 4th tropics vacation since developing fibromyalgia and every single one of them have had me feeling healthy the whole time away in that salty air and sunshine.
I have tons of pictures to share. I will have to write separate posts so keep an eye out.

Oh I'm glad you had such a great time there - sounds like it was quite adventurous! Gosh, being there certainly made a significant difference in your health . . . I wonder if you might consider moving to a place similar to that environment?

@patgalca There must be something (weather, environment) where you live that makes it all come back upon your return. It's so amazing that it all goes away when you go to a more tropical place . . . there must be something to that! How are the beach areas in Ontario?

@just4him Again, not too comfortable living in the U.S. right now. And the only way it would happen is if I could talk my husband into selling both this house and his parents' house which we now own. I don't think he wants to do that.

It all sounds so fun and exciting. It's too bad you can't live in a place like Florida, reputed to be good for people with arthritis and fibromyalgia. Or, just stay in Cancun, although in Mexico you never know how long you'll be safe if you end up living there.

I have to say that the beaches here aren't the greatest. I thought it might just be the resort we were at but I asked the person next to me on the plane who stayed at a different resort and she said their beach was the same way. They've lost all their sand and have replaced it with what seems to be crushed shells. It hurts to walk on in bare feet. The beaches in Cuba are awesome, but I wouldn't want to LIVE there. It's a very poor country. And in both countries, they get paid very little. Hawaii is appealing to me.

You both look so fit and happy in the picture. Your fibro pains are in the legs? Mine are on the back. I hope they feel better soon.

@yoalldudes Magnesium with malic acid is the best supplement. I take Tylenol 3 but have gone from 6-8/day to 2-3/day since taking the Mag-Citrate. I also use essential oils. I have a weighted blanket. I have an amethyst under my pillow. I do all I can. Pacing yourself and knowing your limitations are the best thing you can do.
