Happy Friday! We’re at the weekend! And this public service announcement for Americans (save for those in Arizona and Hawaii): this time Sunday, it won’t be this time Sunday. That’s right, it’s daylight savings time weekend. Why don’t they ever rig this time change to where you lose an hour of work on Monday instead of an hour of sleep on a weekend? Think about that over a glass of wine, and here’s the next song on the list, inspired by @DianneN and a comical post a couple of weeks ago.
#6: I Hear the Wine Talking - Robbie Fulks
Hey, Robbie! Long time, no see! (It really has been: he was my last concert, nearly 18 months ago!)
Here’s the alt-country maestro with a song he’s been doing over the past 3-4 years (and finally recorded in 2018). Like a lot of his songs, there’s a comedic twist (“I hear the wine talking, it’s saying, ‘More wine!’”), but this is far from a funny song. Instead, Fulks takes a completely new twist on the pain of having a lover leave and turning to alcohol for “comfort.”
As usual with Fulks, there are about 4,000 people who know this brilliant song. Maybe one day......
