Day 215 Promise 285 Proverbs 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. 11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. 12 When thou go, thy steps shall not be in distress; and when thou run, thou shalt not stumble. 13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. From the moment we’re born we start learning. Not a day goes by when we don’t learn something new. Every day is a new experience and a new learning opportunity. Solomon said to take hold of instruction because it is life. As Christians, your life is in Jesus Christ and your instruction manual is the Word of God. He didn’t give you His Word to sit on a shelf unopened, but to open its cover and learn of Him. Deuteronomy 5:1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. (KJV) Deuteronomy 17:18 And it shall be, when he sits upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: 20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turns not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. Isaiah 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. (KJV) Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (KJV) 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. God told His people to write His Word down and study it. They were to keep His Word close at all times. Jesus told His disciples to learn of Him and Paul told the people they were to read and study God’s Word. The underlying promise in reading and studying God’s Word is life. Read God’s Word. Study it. Commit it to memory. Then you will know what God requires of you and you will have an answer for those who ask you the reason for your hope in Jesus. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. Is your life secure in Jesus? Do you read and study God’s Word daily? Let’s pray: Father, help me read and study Your Word so I might enjoy the life You promised me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
