Day 216 Promise 286 Proverbs 8:32 Now, therefore, hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. 34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoso finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD. 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they who hate me love death. We are ever learning, but do we learn? We are ever hearing, but do we hear? Solomon instructed his son in wisdom and told him what to look for and what to stay away from. Wisdom was in the beginning with God before He created the world. Wisdom is God, and everyone who seeks God seeks wisdom. Many Christians are content to sit in the pew and let the pastor or priest do all the searching and reading of God’s Word. They are not willing to do more than listen to a sermon once a week and go their ways, never changing even though they committed themselves to God and His Son, Jesus. Solomon called those people sluggards and said they would come to ruin because they didn’t seek wisdom on their own. Solomon told his son he needed to be wise and trust God and seek His wisdom in everything he did. Then he would find life. Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which said, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Luke 7:31 And the Lord said, “Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? And to what are they like? 32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, ‘We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.’” Open your ears, understand what God tells you through His Word, seek His counsel and live. Let’s pray: Father, open my eyes and ears so I might see and hear what You tell me and understand and do that I might live. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. No, I don't believe that. Yes, I know men wrote it, but by the Holy Spirit, so it's God's Word, not man's.
