I Hold My Breath When Waiting To Find Out ...

This morning I got a call from my oncologist's office. The nurse called to give me the results from my recent CT scan. I held my breath. She said, "there isn't any evidence of the non-Hodgkins lymphoma returning". I know you can imagine how glad I was to hear her voice say that. Skip was concerned. I have allergies that make me sneeze, sometimes cough, feel like I have a lot of congestion depending on what is bothering me. Pollen, perfumes (even my own beautiful perfume!), lots of things can trigger an allergy attack. Skip knows that but, he always worries because we both are cancer survivors ... we know we can't take anything for granted. I took a deep breath, thanked the nurse for letting me know because even I had a little fear. I know after having near brushes with death that one can't take their health for granted ... especially since my open-heart surgery. I never knew I was sick! How about that? Now, I have 2 more tests to get results for. I am not going to say I don't worry about them because if I do ... that means I'm taking them for granted to be okay. Do you take things, especially like your health ... for granted? You know when very young you never think you'll be sick, battle for your life with life-threatening illnesses. You know there's nothing wrong with you. When you grow a little older ... sometimes you hold your breath when waiting to find out if you are okay. That's what I do now ... I hold my breath when waiting to find out.

Congratulations for the good result of the test. You are right, being a cancer survivor makes you alert and always on your toes.
