Homeschooling for a month or so

Due to the coronavirus epidemic here in my country, school will have to be suspended for at least a month. My daughters will have to rely on long-distance learning references from their teachers for now plus additional drills from me. Homeschooling isn’t new to us. I homeschooled my kids prior to kindergarten and I still homeschool them every year during the summer break.
Last night I began to give them piano lessons myself because they won’t be able to attend Saturday piano school until the epidemic is over. Today I am giving them art and math lessons. I also require the girls to play a lot in our backyard and get morning sunshine. It’s a different setup these days. In this tropical country, we are not used to staying indoors for a long time. Homeschooling may be quite manageable, but being cooped for like a month is another thing.

Now, it looks like more homeschooling. Good luck in keeping them occupied.

Very good method you have. It is nice that you give them a break too. I believe the virus is far from over.

True. I anticipate a longer lockdown, and I'm actually hoping that school would be cancelled for the rest of the academic year as I'm not confident that this virus has been pushed away yet. I give my girls academic lessons every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In between days I let them play, do crafts or bake with me.

@Hannihar Thank you. It's gonna be a long stretch and I'm hoping we all can cope well. This is a different kind of war and it's indeed far from over.

I congratulate you, you are doing the appropriate thing. The important thing is to keep the boys busy and not lose the thread.

I'm glad their school has uploaded workload for the week. I have only 2 girls but I find it challenging to manage their learning on my own.

@almostoveryou It is never easy to substitute for school teaching.

Yes, technology at its best. It's hard to make them stick to a routine since they're used to regular school. But I'm trying. It's a good thing that my husband is here with us too.
