Is it going overboard

Well In some ways I am glad they closing some things down. I seen on the news that Disney theme parks and cruis lines will close on March 15th (I believe after midnight) until the end of the month. The only thing that will remain open is some retail, dining and the hotels. One of my nieces works at Disney World in Florida and said the information I heard is true. The reason I say I'm glad, just look how many people go there everyday from different places throughout this country. Over the years their have been many people that have told me about the cruis they were on and the fun they had at Disney World , stopping there on the way back home. Do I think people acts crazy and goes a little overboard with these things sometimes, yes of course I do sometimes. But I think the biggest reason I their closing everything ,is to try to keep it from speading like it did in China and other places. Now this is why I feel like I do and why I think their doing the right thing, myself. Anyone that has been to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World will tell you, it is packed everyday. Not only that, at most of the rides and other attraction, people wait in long lines for a very long time , packed in there about like a can of sardines sometimes. Since some lines are setup like some fast places have them and you keep going around, the only thing between two lines is a rope. Since I grew up there, I sometimes go back Florida to visit family members and have been there a lot. Everytime I have been there is has been like that. About anyone that has been there will say this is true. After hearing about the closing, I started thinking about it and started wondering "about how many people really do go there everyday." I looked this up, all these estimates have been written way before the virus ever started anywhere. All the sites that I checked estimated in 2018 there are over 50,000 people each day that goes to the Magic Kingdom part of Disney World. This does not enclude, Epcot, Animal Kingtom or Hollyword Studios, where they say up to 30,000 or more goes there everyday. And who does most people bring to see the Magic Kingdom in Disney World theme park, Their children! So let do the math and add it up! lol You got , a virus that maybe say 10 or more people may have. Some of these people may have even stopped there on their way back home , from a cruis, people do it all the time and say none of them know that have it. Then you add in this to, everyone knows in America, there are some nasty people here that cough, sneeze and everything and never cover their mouth and also use the restrooms and never wash their hands , and spead their germs everywhere. Then you add children to that, everyone knows children are not careful, they will touch and pick up anything they see, without any thought to. Then you add to it, people from all across different parts of this country go there with their children. So if all of that together, it increases the chance of someone getting it. Then when everyone gets through visiting this place, where do they go, back home. So yes, I for one thinks that it's good to close places like that. I do believe that Universal Studioes theme park will close to due to that, also because of having more people go there due to Disney world being closed. So yes, somethings might seem a little overboard that they are doings, but some places do need close. But, to me, I think their just trying to do whatever they think it will take to us from having a major outbreak here like China and other countries. Now this is only the way I look at it. For all I know, I might be the only one in this country that looks at it like that.

@DianneN Oh it will. If you really think about though, you can look at that another way to. Years from now this will be part of history and students in school will be reading about it.

Until they close down all these public points people won't stay back at home. So doing this is the need of the hour.

You are right, I do not know why that is so hard for some people to understand! These are the type of places people go to and that are crowded!

I just wonder if people actually are going to learn something. Well outside the people who watching these people run around in a panic buying up stores. To be fair they say stores starting to say knock that off. So it is probably good these tourist destinations are closing down. I could not imagine the crazy behavior that would be taking place there.

Me to, people are just acting stupid now. It's like a joke I just seen on Facebook said. "Anyone that needs to use 144 rolls of toilet paper 14 days because they have to stay home, has got more to worry about then the virus! They better go to the Dr. ! ????

It is a shame that business are like sheep. Follow the crowd when a minor virus story gets blown out of proportion in the name of safety of the people.

All I can say is, you must have only read a few paragraphs before you wrote your comment. Common sense would tel anyone that according to what I descibed how Disney theme parks, Magic Kingdom is and with around over 50,000 visiting there everyday. If 10 to 20 people were there with the virus, chances are more likely for it to be spead! So yes, say what you want, I think it's smart thing to close them places.

@Deepizzaguy Thank you for understanding this. Yes, you should got back sometime and read all of what I wrote. You might really get what I'm coming froml. By the way, your not the only one that has ever done that, you can tell in many peoples discussions, who only reads a few paragraphs that are long, just by their comments. So now you know, people know when someone has read their discussion or not, we can tell by comments! lol

Wow that's a lot of people that go to places like that, one the other hand I don't believe in this virus that's going around..I mean it's just a stronger flu and if your sick stay inside and take care of yourself like you would with any other cold..

I agre with you 100% that is for the people that are careful, like they are with any virus, flu or cold season. But, I can see why they don't want people to be packed together like that, there are so many people that goes to places like that are not careful and spreads all their germs everywhere. So that's I say their doing the best thing to close these places.

The real big problem is that there is no antidote and covid-19 spreads so fast when human to human begins to happen which is being seen on cruise ships. Though this is so, the couple that came home from a cruise ship infected with covid-19 is healthy and did not catch it. They came home to their Ewa home and got interviewed by the news I watch and they are happy to be home finally after almost a month long isolation and did not catch covid-19.

What you just said is the reason why I think it is good that they are closing some places. Them theme parks like that are crowded and people that have that virus and not know it could be walking around everywhere in those places. And when everyone leaves they travel back to the places they were from, which could bring that virus there. That's how I look at it.

@sweetashoney Plus, spreading from human to human is highly likely now, and locally many things are cancelled too. University classes going viral only, St. Patrick's Day block party cancelled, Honolulu Festival cancelled, all University sports cancelled, Merrie Monarch Festival cancelled. But at least, Rep. Case e-newsletter update about what Congress, has some relief news that Congress, is funding in a huge way the antidote research for covid-19 among other key issues. Sen. Schatz has introduced a new bill to help displaced workers which is many locally...State depends a lot on hospitality or tourism. But at least Congress is right on the issue and getting good things for the State! How about your home...any good relief news?

@oahuwriter Oh good, I seen on the news here in SC where they were talking about trying to pass a bill where workers will be payed, if they can't work due to shutdowns. I can see where that will help a lot of people, the way a lot of people look at it is, virus or not, I still got to work to pay bills. So I think that will be a big help . People then will not feel like they are forced to take the chance of catching because they have to work to pay their bills.

Yea, the way I look at it is, it might not stop anything, but it can't hurt to try.
