Keys and cords may take over the world one day

Does anyone else have family members that can't get rid of keys or cords? These cords were in a junk drawer and have been bothering me for awhile until I finally pulled them out. Most are the same. I'm keeping two just in case but if I don't find what they're for within six months those may go to the garbage pile too. Some years ago I threw out the extra keys that weren't touched or used for a long time. Some may have been for my father-in-law's property. After he died the property was sold and the buildings demolished making the keys redundant. I'm sure I'll find more cords stirred in other drawers but those will be thrown away once found too. In current news I've made progress with my paperwork which is related to getting insurance money to help pay for costs for what my husband's still owes for his surgeries last oct. If it all gets approved it will pay about half of what is owed and be a relief.

I threw out many keys I found in drawers here as well that were no longer needed. I do have a small box of cords like you show in the photo just in case I need them for something.

@shaggin I wish I knew that years ago. The best but near here closed a few years ago and I don't plan on going to the nearest one anytime soon and especially now with the ban on non-essential traveling.

I have more cords in the basement too and maybe I'll get rid of those one day when I'm ready to get rid of junk down there.

I have a huge tote in my storage closet that is filled with nothing but cords. I'm not even sure what they are all for, and I haven't seemed to be missing any cords or haven't found a need to pull any cords out of the tote in like three years. So, obviously, they aren't cords I need. Yet I seem to be very hesitant to throw them away. And I'm not even a hoarder! lol

@MarshaMusselman I think another big reason we keep all those cords is because of availability of replacements. Have you ever had to replace a missing cord, and then shopped around everywhere and couldn't find what you need? It's much harder than you think to find replacement cords, so it's easier just to hold on to whatever you have in case you need them as a spare or backup someday.

@moffittjc have you ever had to go through all your stockpile of cords in different drawers? Sometimes it maybe other times looking in stores might be easier, lol.

That's what I mean. We're afraid that once we get rid of them well needed one of them pronto. It's not even like they are expensive.

Of the ones we had stored away were multiples. There ones that look like tv connectors I'm keeping just in case they're needed in the near future but otherwise most new items come with their own cords.

Good idea throwing away those unnecessary cords and keys. That's good you're getting the paperwork sorted through so you can get help from the insurance company for his surgery.

I finally threw out the extra keys done years ago and the cords are in the box but not at the road for pick up yet. But closer than they were before anyway. I got some info worked out from one hospital from hubby's surgery not I needed to find my policy and send that one in. Two more to go after that.

@just4him I'm taking the claim into work today to mail it insured or registered with a receipt. While looking through the info from the hospital last night I realized in it I have the info needed to put his daw info for each rx. Maybe I can work on one each day. I have to send them in individually rather than a large clump.

@MarshaMusselman That's good they're closer to getting to the curb. I'm glad things are going in the right direction for the insurance.

I doubt it. These are pretty common and possibly even useless.
