Pros and Cons of Living There

Beautiful weather, it is almost always sunny. It gets pretty hot in the summer but is really dry. The wind seems to blow constantly in the spring. Mild winters usually but tons of snow within 30 minutes drive to the Sandias. Not very much rain though. Swimming holes are scarce and over populated. The food is the best. Hot chili dishes. More restaurants then any city i've been to. The crime is terrible especially in the South Valley and around Kirtland AFB. You can put the pedal to the metal when you get out away from the cities. Long drive to get to any other places.

I've had family in Albuquerque and they like it (and so do I). I like the fact that you really have a change of seasons there (I've even seen snow in winter), as opposed to a place like Phoenix, where it's hot and sunny all year 'round. And yeah, the food is great.

I'm reminded of the elevation every time I go running when I get out there, and come back winded after just 1/2 a mile... takes a couple of days for me to get used to the thinner air.

I lived there for 4 years and there was at least some snow every winter. There was even a couple of blizzards. It's because of the elevation, over 5,000 feet, that they get more varied weather than some other SW cities.

I know what you're saying. I felt sluggish for the first 2 weeks I was there. But after that It was full throttle for me. Hiking the Sandias, football, running, etc.

I knew some of what you were saying sounded familiar to me. I've been to Albuquerque. Don't they also have horse racing there?

No I don't have a problem with the weather. I love all of it from the rain and snow to the searing heat. I just listed my basic observations of how the weather was there in case someone wanted to know.
