They're back...

Photo I took of the male Oriole at the feeder in 2016

...the other reason I make hummingbird food--the Orioles. When I came in from walking Angel a while ago, I saw a male Oriole hopping around in the wisteria. The hummingbird feeder was swinging, so I'm guessing he flew off of it when he saw me. The Orioles started showing up about four years ago, so Mom took a couple of the little "flowers" off of the hummingbird feeder so that the Orioles could get to the food more easily. The Orioles are way more nervous around me then the humming birds are. A feeding hummingbird will look up from eating at me as if to say, "What are you looking at?" and continue eating. The Orioles take off as soon as they see me. I managed to get a few photos one year, but it's definitely difficult. So, now I have another reason to stay stocked up on sugar.

You certainly seem - in general - to have more colourful birds in the Americas than Europe.

I have never been to Europe--so you don't have a lot of colorful birds there? A lot of the birds I see here are brown/grey/black. The Orioles, hummingbirds and Blue jays are the exception.

@xstitcher Let's just say that the bird colours here tend to be muted.
