What are you doing to keep your mind off the craziness in the world?

Don't get me wrong, I know we need to stay informed so we can be safe. But sometimes for our mental health I think we need to get our minds on something else and kind of take a break from all the stress right now. What are you doing to kind of get away from all the craziness in the world right now? I worry so much because my kids have asthma, my husband has diabetes & last year I almost died and was in the ICU. So this virus really scares me because of all of our health issues. It's so hard to not think about it but mentally I feel I need a break! What do you do to escape reality for just a moment?

That's right sometimes it can get overwhelming. It is good to stay connected. In the first few days of the outbreak here in our country, I had to be updated of the to the minute news of what's happening around, what people and government are doing, what's changing, also watching the numbers and hearing every story of people and their situations, and then thinking about my own and that of my family. Also, during that time too for some reason, some people spread fake news about many things, not only the diseases but just about any news, and it is exhausting. There were nights I never watched time and never realized I was still awake until the morning. And this is not just an individual thing. I guess I was worried of being helpless. That no one can control the deaths and damages, knowing the doctors themselves die and that the govt is just trying their best to contain it by asking people not to go out, although those people need to work to feed themselves. And the system had to be put in place later only. No one was prepared. Knowing that the national hospitals in the city can only take a limited number and seeing the news in Italy and then worrying that I myself or anyone near me may already have it is distressing. But everyone gets tired. Even the medical doctors need mental counseling. I see that being offered by one of the universities to our frontliners electronically I think they call it telepsychiatry, well from every place there are good people recently I saw on the news that 600 young medical students volunteered despite the dangers, and I admit that having some security that someone is doing something or is in charge of some things can add to the calm.
