Music is an art; and, as with any art form, it’s subject to the personal tastes of those observing it. For my money, there are very few American bands better than CCR, which is why I’m celebrating their music with my favorite songs (or an abbreviated version...I had 26 songs on the initial list!). Here’s today’s song.
#10: Bootleg
Wow, ain’t it the truth. An examination of human nature (and probably a good explanation of why people are still ignoring the social distancing rules), summarized in three short minutes. The basic gist: tell someone they can’t, and that’s when they want to.
Of course, there are people who don’t share my enthusiasm for CCR, and this is a good explanation as to why. The lyrics are, “bootleg, bootleg, bootleg howl;” however, it sounds like Fogerty’s singing, “Boolay, boolay, boolay powder.” His most famous misheard lyric will be along later in the countdown. But it’s part of the “sound” that made CCR so enjoyable for a lot of people.

It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to envision the SF Bay as a swamp....
