"My 600lbs life" inspires me to exercise

Don't get me wrong, I've watched so many episodes of this show and I know most of the people on there are in the situation they are in because of deep childhood trauma or difficult life situations. The producers of this show are exploiting the battle for life of these poor people. Every time I watch it, I have this urge to start exercizing maniacally I really hope people learn from shows like this, but to me personally, it's really unimaginable to be in the state they are in. I wouldn't wish imobilizing obesity on anyone. What are your thoughts on this show? Have you watched it?

That may be the point of the show is to warn us. But also the creators of these shows are using it as a form of entertainment because they know people want to see things and take advantage of the interest of others. The point of being a producer is knowing how to draw people in and make money. There is more to it than childhood trauma, though it is a lot of times what leads to addiction. Part of it is that foods is cheap and readily available in most countries (obviously not the case in others)

I haven’t watched it, but think that people who allow themselves to get that fat are pure gluttons. It’s a life of poor eating habits, and not just medical problems.

They develop an unhealthy relationship with food early in their childhood, and it becomes pathological. They use food as a coping mechanism instead of actually putting the effort in to solve their problems. And delicious, specially designed easy-to-cook microwaved box foods aren't helping their case

I would recommend watching an episode, just for educational purposes. It really makes me grateful that I can WALK and GO TO THE BATHROOM BY MYSELF, something that 600lb people call a luxury.

I'm the same way, although I've only seen a few episodes. In a similar way, the show Hoarders makes me keep my house clean it's sad to watch people fall in despair like that, I can't watch much of it. and it feels terrible because the people making the show are clearly capitalizing on their misfortune.

@jasmineyo yes it should be about how not to go down a path like that and I'm sure it's viewed as that by most of the audience, though I still suspect they try to cash in on these poor people's situations :(
