We all celebrate Easter holidays in one way or another and one things for sure is the meals that come with the celebrations. Here in South Africa fish is a must during this time of year and Easter eggs too I've read up on a few customs around the globe on what they enjoy as their tradition. What's your favorite Easter meal that wouldn't be the same If the celebrations came without you enjoying you favorite meal?

We don't really celebrate Easter but over the years, we've celebrated with family. Because my husband is English, we'd have hot cross buns and tuck into our many Easter eggs. The main thing would be the roast dinner. But in my native Botswana where we now live, we just make it up as we go along

@agwira18 yes, we're right across the border from each other. Whereabouts in SA are you? I'm in the capital Gaborone. SA and Botswana culture and traditions are very similar.

@Lushlala I'm in the capital city but originally from Soweto. I have a friend in your neck of the woods in Mutsudi I think if I'm spelling it correct. We are in business together and know each other from SA.

In the UK, Hot Cross Buns (a sweet, spiced yeast bread roll with dried fruit) are the most traditional thing to have at Easter. They are traditionally eaten warm for breakfast on Good Friday but they are available in shops for weeks before Easter. There is also a cake called a Simnel Cake which is a light fruit cake which has a filling of marzipan baked into it and is covered with marzipan as well. It is also quite traditional to have a roast dinner on Easter Sunday and this would usually be a leg of lamb (or sometimes a shoulder) served with mint sauce, roast potatoes, spring greens, peas and gravy.

Unfortunately, what I usually do to celebrate Easter, going to church, was not possible this year because of the lockdown. I stayed home and thanked the Lord for his great Gift of salvation.
