The little country in the middle of the ocean has randomly tested 10% of its population, around 36,000 people. 1700 have tested positive on the island so far with just 8 deaths. Interestingly half of the people who tested positive in this group, had no symptoms. They did not know they ever had it, They may well be the chief spreaders in lockdown in family homes and the work place now.
Its likely a big chunk of our populations have had non symptomatic covid19 or have it now. This drags down the death rate significantly but also increases spread s to kill more. Iceland are the perfect petri-dish to get some facts,
40 mutations of the virus
Iceland's high-volume testing also involves genetic sequencing of the different samples of the virus, which helps researchers to investigate the various mutations of the virus.
The testing has also revealed that there are at least 40 mutations of coronavirus in Iceland, and the virus might develop to become more contagious, but less dangerous. These variants can also act as the fingerprints of the virus to trace its origin.

Interesting post. 40 variants will be a nightmare to create a vaccine but hopefully they will eventually!

They say its stable in that it wont mutate up or down but more likely dribble out like SARS

They are slow mutations for a RNA virus. A one off vaccine is still the plan.

I tested positive, and I have only had mild symptoms. Thankfully, I was already quarantined in my home when I started feeling sick, so I (hopefully) wasn't out there contaminating anyone.

That is interesting to know as well as they have a much more different opinion here and that is that the warm weather will make it peak even more and in two months time it will be back again strong.
I have no idea where they get all that from.
Truth to tell I neither believe or disbelieve all what they are supposed to know or say I take it with a pinch of salt most of it.
Would to goodness that none of it had existed in the first place.

Wow, how interesting! This COVID-19 is very, very strange - 'might develop to become more contagious, but less dangerous'! One thing's for sure, it's got the medical world on its toes.
