It's brilliant, once again it's ordinary people looking after the people... much needed in these times...   The post photo is of a grocery drop off box, the piece of paper says .. " if you can,  leave some thing, for those that need it  &  if you need it.. take it..."  Ordinary folk helping others... the spanish government,  like several others,  have said they will pay those, that have been stopped from going to work because of the virus... but of course ... when people will actually see that payment,  is probably  weeks away... and in the meantime ...  they need to eat and pay bills ect... so one day this appeared in our town... on a lampost not far from a supermarket we use,   and the idea is... when you do your shopping, buy a little  extra,  if you are able, and put it in that box... and then someone who needs it,  will pick out what they need to make a meal... I love it... and like the title of this post says..., I don't know who thought of this..., but ....  it's  brilliant... I hope it is being done elsewhere too... there's probably people all over the world that need this sort of help.

In the small little neighbourhood book boxes, where people put books that they have read and pick up others to read, people have turned these into goodwill pick up and drop off points for non-perishables. There is usually a sign that reads, take if you need, give if you can. I think that is so sweet.

I think these are more in towns? We're pretty rural - Maritimes - I don't know of any nearby I wonder if there's a directory to let people know where to find them in their neighborhood.

I love this idea! It works really well for books on our neighborhood and I wonder if it could be implemented with the non- perishable food!? Thanks for sharing- nice to see great ideas in these difficult times.
