He always dreamed about the fine white sand, the turquoise water, and the never ending blue sky. Setting up his home and surf shop in one of the islands of New Hawaii was what kept him motivated all these years. His dream is now within reach. He wanted to keep things simple. Fish and surf and lounge on the beach most of the year and then rent out or sell gear when tourist season kicks in. He also planned on giving surf lessons or being a tourist guide for a fee. He had made a mental picture in his mind and had held on a post card he saw in a bookstore back when everything was normal. The thought brought a smile to his face. No such thing as normal in this society he grew up in. All he wanted to do was to get out. This was his ticket out. All that stood between him and his dream was this set of doors. Behind that door is a floor of card tables, dice games, roulettes, and slot machines. Gambling has long since been prohibited but the more you prohibit something, the more people yearned for it. This place enjoyed protection from both sides of the law - the cops and the crooks. People who can afford to pay a fee to be allowed entry in this exclusive gambling den stayed and played on for days. Usually leaving when they either hit a big score or they had nothing left to lose. He was going in with his friends. Friends who he has known since he was five. He would never think of doing this with anyone else. They were seven friends but they could have been brothers just the same. They were not only his friends. They were his family. He kissed the postcard for good luck, placed it in his back pocket, and made a sign of the cross. When he looked up all six were looking at him as if waiting for him to speak. He didn't need to. It was now or never. He gave a nod. He pulled down his mask, raised his Kel-Tec KSG, and shot through the door. They stormed the casino floor and declared a robbery.

It sounds like a good way to end up in prison instead of on the beach fulfilling his dream. Interesting story.

If the job didn't go right, then he'd probably end up in prison. If it did, hello waves and sunshine!

Sounds like Oceans 11, except it takes place in Hawaii.

The person wanted to go to New Hawaii. Love that movie Oceans 11 and its sequels.

Was it just a dream or just because of prolonged quarantine?
