The Chastisement Deprives Us of Communion.

I was taught that the Holy Host we receive in Communion is our Lord. Therefore, we must prepare for that sacred moment when God literally dwells in us. For example, we must abstain from food and water one full hour before Communion. Yet, through the decades, people have taken Communion for granted like it is just a part and parcel of the Sunday ritual. Every one just lines up without regard if worthy of receiving our Lord. Nope, even the venial sins must be confessed.
Shame! I am guilty, too, for mine is not a pure heart, especially when thoughts presuppose utter disdain for despicable people.
Sigh! This pandemic is a chastisement.
Hoping we could all find the time to reflect and write down our shortcomings. When the Church opens, we could troop to the Confessional and ask pardon for our sins.

I could do that, too. But the Gospel of our Lord specifically tells us to go to confession and do our reconciliation there.

I agree with you that asking pardon for our sins is very important in our lives.

Yes, only when we confess can we reconcile with our Lord.
