Snacking on pumpkin seeds

My kids have been snacking on pumpkin seeds. I got a small bag of these seeds yesterday when I went to the grocery. Most of the sugary snacks and other commercially baked breads and biscuits have been hoarded by other shoppers. No time to fret. I picked up seeds, nuts and dried fruits for snacks. No problem. :o)
Do you like to snack on seeds and nuts?

@almostoveryou you are right, the cover of the watermelon seed is hard and difficult to open. But I buy the canned watermelon seeds in the Duty Free beside the airport. The seeds are ready to eat, no more shell.

What do you do to prepare watermelon seeds? Do you eat the outside too?

My kids don't like watermelon seeds because they're hard. I miss other nuts and dried fruits that you get from Chinese stores like kikiam, dates, prunes, etc.

I love pumpkin seeds! Not so fond of sunflower seeds. I love all kinds of nuts but we are a nut-free school because of allergies, so I can't stash nuts in my desk for a mid-afternoon pickmeup. I therefore eat a kind of trail mix I put together with pumpkin seeds, pinenuts, and dried fruit.

I wonder if you can prep the trail mix ahead of time and eat them later? I've been wanting to try but don't want to waste seeds and nuts 'cause they can be a bit expensive here.

@almostoveryou Yes, I do it all the time. It keeps for months if I don't eat it all. Usually (when at school) I have a maybe two-cup container full of a mix of seeds and dried fruit. Sometimes pieces of chocolate too. Just don't put any baked things like pretzels or cereal in or they will be soggy.

@petatonicsca Thanks for the tip. I've got raisins and almonds here. I'd love to have sunflower seeds and pistachios too. Yum.

@almostoveryou Adding them to your salad and smoothies is yet another fantastic way of enjoying seeds :)

Exactly. I'm trying to incorporate more seeds now into our diet, perhaps add them to our fresh green salads.

Yes, makes you wonder. Here, people have hoarded corned beef and instant canton noodles. No worries. I'd choose fresh veggies any day.

I used to buy them along with nuts and eat them. Now I do not buy or eat them. They are good.

I didn't know there's a better alternative to coffee. Then again I don't really drink coffee. Would love to have sunflower seeds for snack.

I never knew it could do that. What a terrible experience.
