Good Thursday morning, and welcome to this portion of the countdown of favorite songs with “thanks” in the title that we might call “Songs Even Stevie Wonder Saw Coming.”
I’m sure a lot of people were wondering if I’d get funky in this countdown after all the moldy old country music I’ve used. Well, if you’re used to my countdowns you know one thing: you don’t know where they’re going from one song to the next! Get up and boogie, ‘cause here it is.
#3: Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) - Sly & the Family Stone
See? We didn’t need that silly synth-disco song in the 70s that said, “Won’t you take me to funky town.” We had Sly & the Family Stone, so nobody had to ask to be taken. They were going!
One of the classics of soul, R&B, funk, dance...whatever you want to call it. You can’t sit still. My dear mother of blessed memory had no rhythm to speak of, but she tried with this song. (Failed miserably, but she DID try!
)
Enjoy this exercise-inducing blast from the past.
Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)
