Friday!!! New month!!! Many states are reopening!!! Hooray!!!! To celebrate all of that, I’m giving you another one of those “oh, what a shock, you’re using that band” acts for the penultimate entry in my list of favorite songs with “thanks” in the title. To no one’s surprise, here they are! #2: Thank You for Sending Me an Angel - Talking Heads There’s no “thank you” in the song. No angels. Nothing referenced in the title is in the song. Heck, the song isn’t even about buildings or food (it was the opening track of an album titled More Songs About Buildings and Food). That’s typical of early Talking Heads (the title of “Life During Wartime” isn’t in that song, either). It’s also a typically great Talking Heads tune.
