Lock down equals change of diet and loss of weight!

Well, I guess about now we are all living in a different world with the lock down and pandemic taking place. When this all started I was over 13 stone in weight, about 13.5 to be exact. Then all of a sudden everything was locked down and during the first few weeks people went mad in the supermarkets purchasing more than they needed leaving very little for everyone else. Do you remember the first day? Tons of toilet rolls were wiped off the shelves! Anyway, one advantage of this is the fact that I have been eating less and have lost weight as a result. I am now down to 12.5 stone, not bad. My diet has changed and I have been rationing. I cannot get any eggs, they are no longer available or if they are, they are taken off the shelves quickly. For breakfast I just have a bacon sandwich and for lunch I have a bowl of soup with a slice or two of bread. Doesn't sound like much but it fills the gap and prevents me from going hungry. There is supposed to be more than enough food but the shelves still seem to clear up pretty quick. Anyway, I hope we come out of this lock down soon. So, are there any advantages for you during this current lock down? Do you have any coping mechanisms that you have started using? Stay safe!

I'm retired so nothing has really changed for me. Congratulations on your weight loss! I think it's great as most people have gained during this time.

Thanks Sharon. I hope that you are enjoying your retirement otherwise. In terms of my weight I think that I am on to a good thing so my aim is to continue the trend once lock down ends.

@AndrewFreyne Yes, I do enjoy being retired. What you are doing regarding your weight seems to be working so I would also continue with it.

Wow, I am glad to hear something positive coming out of this anyway... One positive side for me is because of no traveling, gambling, little shopping - I have been spending much less money and have paid off ONE credit card, going on two next week. I cannot say I have any coping mechanisms, but going on long-ish walks outside when the weather permits has been helping keep stress levels low.

Yes, definitely some positives ;). That's one good thing about this epidemic, the fact that it is helping with spending less money, I have been spending a lot less. Good news regarding the credit card pay offs. I was in debt once upon a time and once I became debt free I vowed never to become entrapped in debt again, not sure if I will ever pick up another credit card. The walks sound nice. I prefer cycling although I am missing that due to the lock down. I very much look forward to getting back on my bike. Well, keep safe.

the situation isn't that serious here and i feel like i'm going to gain weight, because i'm not moving much and i'm having 2 meals + snacks and before this quarantine i used to eat barely once a day and i had to walk a lot from dorm to campus

Oh well, that sounds great :). Well, once lock down comes to an end I think we will all be rushing outside including me, I'm anxious to return to my regular cycling!

First one month of lockdown, despite staying at home and doing nothing, eating timely and normal diet, I lost 5 kgs from 85 to 80. Can't explain why.

That's interesting. Glad to hear that you are having a normal diet though. I think also, with me eating less and exercising within my home, this has contributed to my weight loss. Hope we come out of this lock down soon. Have a nice weekend.
