Ready For Home School and Other Learning Alternatives

Amidst the Covid-19 Crisis, the private school where my son is going is looking at doing a home-school program for the Kindergarten, and Grades 1 -3 levels. For the higher levels, other forms of alternative learning systems are being considered, including online-classes. Although, there will be an issue with regards to the stability and high cost of Internet services here in the Philippines. I'm wondering how would the kids respond to this system of education.

My kids are homeschooled and they like it better compared to going to the conventional school.

@jrlcentral They are usually behave since they started just last year. I told them that they will go back to the regular school if they dont learn from it. So theyre both working hard.

That is true... proper preparation must be done and the teacher must learn how to make use of technology in order to deliver the lesson effectively

I think kids should be left alone during this difficult times instead of overburdening them with online education.

I don't think would be a burden for them... I guess it depends on how it will be delivered to them by the teacher. Online education is not a very viable option for now. The Internet connection here is quite slow.

I guess it will be very interesting. I don't know how it would be done. But it's new to us all, even for our teachers. We have a few months to prepare though. The school opening is moved to August.

The schools in my place have been doing online classes since a month ago. I wonder how the students can learn properly from home.

In a home-school setup, a parent or guardian guides the learner. They are supposed to be oriented by the school-teacher. But this is new to almost all of us here...I'm not sure how this will be done here yet.

We also same same situation now.. My kids classes alredy going in in online but they are not interested to listen those and getting difficulty to understand those.. In my opinion they are not comfortable on inline classes..

Ahh... you can't adopt a classroom-type of delivery on online classes. Students will definitely lose interest.

My school is currently going into the 8th week of online learning K-12. The younger ones are better at getting online at the right times. Some of the middle schoolers say they like it because they can just do all their work and have the rest of the day off. Most are very sad not to see their friends and even teachers!

The problem here is, some families can't afford to have an Internet subscription. Plus the Internet connection is quite unstable. So, I think there will be a mixed setup here in the Philippines.
