What would your reaction be? Would you be upset, happy or sad? Why would you feel that way? I would be very sad because I like my job a lot if that happened but I know there are other jobs out there so I would not be down for long.

I agree that getting laid off at this time of the year would be very sad and devastating because I would not be able to get gifts for my family and friends.

I will try to find what mistake i made, and if i find myself guilty then i will take it as my punishment, otherwise i will fight for my position and self respect

That is good that you will not go down without a fight, though sometimes there is nothing that can be done about it.

I would be in a panic as I am the sole support for my family and we would not be able to pay bills, etc. My first reaction would be to immeidately start looking for another job in the middle of being sad and scared.

At this precise moment I would be over the moon. In itself, I like my job and I believe that I do something valuable for society (I work in education), but the pressure is too much, I don't think I'm doing my job to the best of my ability at the moment, and I wake up in the night worrying about it all the time. I long for the day when the debts are paid and I can give up work and enjoy being frugal and working for myself.

I would be disappointed, mainly because you always tend to leave a number of good friends behind when you leave a job. Apart from that it would not concern me unduly, and I would probably wait until after New Year to look for other employment. Fortunately, being out of work for a while would not cause me any real financial difficulties, which is the main worry for most people.

i will be happy if there's compensation for me.. LOL i'm in the process of finding jobs anyway. it will be a relief if they decided to close up the branch actually.

I take it that you do not like your job. If they shut down the office, than most likely they would have some kind of severance pay but if they lay you off for some other reason there would be no pay.
