Although it was based on the life of superstar Uttam Kumar the film has shown life of celluloid personalities are always full of uncertainties. Thanks John Satyajit Ray was one of the best Indian directors ever. He himself wrote the stories, wrote the scripts, did cameragraphy, gave the music and also gave direction. His films showed realistic images.

Just to add, Satyajit Ray was also a prolific writer. Amongst all of his work, I like pather panchali, goopi gayne bagha byne and feluda most. Pls correct the names, if not spell correctly.

Thanks Staplostick great information, his stories of Feluda and Prof Shanku are still read by numerous readers. He could make only 2 films including Sonar Kella and Joy Baba Felunath in his lifetime. But he was a fantastic writer no doubt about it.

@stapllotik Thanks Staplostick, you are very informed person. Yes Amanush was director Shakti Samanta's double venture, both bengali and hindi version. Satyajit Ray was such a realistic director they he told superstar Uttam Kumar that no make up will be given in his face. He had pox 2 years back. So those marks were also evident. But Uttam Kumar gave a marvellous performance in Nayak. He was the first male actor in India to get national award in 1967 for the films Chiriakhana and Anthony Firingi. It was started in 1967 with the name of Bharat Puraskar.
