The ABS-CBN shutdown is an attack on freedom of the press.

I admit I am too late on this, because I don't watch television. Plus, I am not a fan of ABS-CBN. So, I was shocked to see a stream line of "I stand by ABS-CBN" on facebook yesterday, many calling for a million signatures. Today, I also responded to some posts about the shutdown, as I did, I admit I had not studied the issue very well. So I listened and read a few pros and cons and have come to the conclusion that the shutdown is a playbook on the curtailment of press freedom leading to a suspension of the writ of habeas corpus. Why? Because ABS-CBN is the Filipino Channel that is viewed worldwide, not GMA 7, ABS-CBN is also the channel of the masa - the simple fisher men and farmer folks. By denying the people the news, that is a step leading to communism. Ergo, I STAND BY ABS-CBN!.

Yes, you did say so. Sigh. This censure really could have not chosen a difficult time, but it did. We cannot go out and rally. What madness this is! Two years more? I pray not. Let's do every thing we can to guide the ambivalent, rally the activists, and support the freedom fighters. It is our duty to our country to defend the motherland against any oppressor, foreign and domestic.

It's all nothing but DRAMA non sense about this Attack of Press Freedom. I can stil watch ANC on my cable and there's still facebook and youtube were they can still air TV patrol. They should have renewed their license back when Noynoy was still President! Now they're facing the consequences.Sadly we have a President that works!

You are mistaken. Do farmers and fisher folks have internet? ABS-CBN os the official network, too, of the overseas workers who bring the money to our country. If its the legal thing, the network did settle that. It was just money. Anything corporate can be fixed and settled. But this government wouldn't allow it. It has vested interest.

@eileenleyva No it's not a mistake that they will come back once this franchise troubles had been dealt with. I've heard that folks had been going out throwing their tv and tv plus, but probably not every one. It is a mistake making too much of a drama out of this, they should trust both the network and the govt. to settle this problem.
