How did they know I was a woman?

Whenever I come on myLot , I am always amused by the selection of ads on the site and sometimes I click on one or two of them. Today I saw an ad for some really colourful men`s shirts so I decided to click on the ad and have a look.
When I got through to the site I noticed at the top of the page there was an image of a present jumping around. So I clicked on that and I was taken to a page which offered me 15% discount as I was a new customer. I scrolled down the page and they were showing me pictures of ladies bikinis.
So how did they know it was a woman visiting the site when I had originally clicked on a man`s shirt?

Perhaps it was a good guess, unless they direct all new customers straight to the ladies swimwear page.
