I haven’t talked to her in months and out of the blue a former friend one I’ve distanced from my life texts me wanting to know how I make potato salad. I’m not rude so I answer her, but wonder why she’s asking a question that she knows the answer too.

That is rather strange maybe the salad was just an excuse to get in touch to see what you would say. BTW since you have not mentioned her how is Little Miss?
