Good afternoon a great sunny day with temp.in the 70's. Could the virus lead the rebirth of t he drive-in? I believe the drive in is coming back. Sadly most of them are gone way back. We have a couple here.Yes it is going to make a comeback. Most want to just get out of the house. Many people have not been to a drive in. Your take on this the photo I got online

There is a drive-in in our little city in Florida, but we haven’t had a chance to visit is. I sure hope they return. I have always enjoyed them, especially in the back seat!

The only drive in theater in my area is in a bad neighborhood, so I would abstain.

I was thinking the other day that these might make a comeback for the reasons you state. So many options are available for home viewing, though, it seems a little unlikely.

That would be sort of cool! I would like it better than theaters! But it won't work during summer because you must have windows closed and you will stifle in the heat and you can't have the engine running for ac.

I think that various aspects of the drive in are coming back. There are lots of little cities in our area that have outdoor shows in parks, I don't know if that will continue after the pandemic. Our son and his wife hosted another couple over during the pandemic for a sit in. They put chairs out, physically distanced, in their garage, and he managed to get a projector to put a movie on the wall, and he did that on the inside of their garage door. The 4 of them had a good time together, all within social and physical distances. I thought it was so incredibly innovative.

I think it would be great if drive-ins did make a comeback. I would definitely go. I would take drinks and snacks and sit back and enjoy.

The drive-in movies have never been a thing in the UK. Probably because we'd have to have our windscreen wipers on all the time to watch the movie!!

Ours is reopening! I'm so happy. The cars have to be parked 10 ft apart, you can't get out of your car unless it's to use the restroom, and they won't be selling concessions. But it will be so nice to see a movie again!

@amadeo Speaking of concessions... I've heard that some movie theaters are trying to stay in business by selling their concessions for people to enjoy at home, like their popcorn kernels and popping oil and seasonings.
