Yesterday it was sunny and warm. Today it’s raining and warm. Wonder why my sinuses hurt? Anyway, here’s another song extolling the virtues of the house, where we’ve all be incarcerated for weeks. #9: Haunted House - John Fogerty Sure, I could’ve gone with the Jumpin’ Gene Simmons original, or Ray Stevens’ cover, but why not get Fogerty in on the act? After the breakup of CCR there was a rather cryptic album released titled The Blue Ridge Rangers. No names, no clear photos (just five cowboy hat-wearing musicians silhouetted against the twilight sky), no indication of anything relating this to John Fogerty. The songs were old country tunes. And yet...how could anybody not know that was Fogerty? In 2009 he returned the “band” — this time, with other musicians, not Fogerty on everything — for a second album under that pseudonym. The songs were a little more up-to-date (with the opening track being John Prine’s masterpiece “Paradise”), and there was even a song that Fogerty wrote (“Change in the Weather,” which he originally recorded on Eye of the Zombie) in the mix. One of the songs he picked to cover this time around was the 1964 hit by Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, the man from whom the Kiss bassist took his stage name. It’s a lighthearted tune about a man not being scared out of his newly-purchased home by ghosts or guys in flying saucers. A great tune, given a fresh treatment by one of our national treasures. Haunted House Written by Robert L. Geddins Recorded by John Fogerty From The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again, 2009 (Originally recorded by Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, 1964) Buddy Miller!!!!!
The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again is a studio album by American roots rock singer-songwriter and guitarist John Fogerty, first released on August 25, 2009, ...
