Given a choice between devil and the deep blue sea, what would you choose?

If you consider the literal meaning I would prefer to fight the devil than swim a deep sea. 
What the idiom means is " if you are given to decide between two difficult options what would you choose."
Decision making between two difficult options can be tough. But If we can list out the consequence of each of the two tough option then decision making can be lot easier.
Taking advice from people with better experience and knowledge does help to make a proper informed decision and face the consequence even if you are to chose either the devil or the deep blue sea.

I choose devil....because I strongly believe there is no devils exist..
