Some people believe that MSG bad to our health. Actually it is true, because MSG can raise blood level. So at home i prefer using salt and sugar with exactly combination. Hmm.. the taste is good although we dont put any MSG in it. What is your food seasoning in cooking? Have you still use chemical flavoring?

I get migraine-like headaches from MSG - so does my family. My mom used to put tons of MSG in everything in her cooking (Japanese) - so that would explain my many bad headaches in my childhood. But she no longer uses it. I use all kinds of seasonings in my cooking - and don't use MSG. However, in the fish "dashi" that I use for certain Japanese dishes, MSG is in there.

So.. you can avoid it when cooking at home... because your mom no longer uses it :), it is good. Yes, sometimes we cant deny.. many dishes still use it, like what you said " dashi", especially when we buy it at the restaurant or shop.

@HannahKusKus Oh yes, in restaurants it's just there. In certain Chinese restaurants, we are able to request no MSG in the food, but others tell us that is the way they make it and they cannot change it. I guess MSG can be naturally occurring - but it is a matter how much each of our bodies can tolerate. Like I said, if it's too much, I will get a bad headache (I hate it!).

Actually i dont believe that MSG (monosodium glutamat or natrium glutamat) is bad for health as long we use them as the serving suggestion. Do not exceed the level.
But i ever use sugar to replace MSG. You know, both MSG and sugae come from the same tree, sugarcane
